Apples.  There are so many wonderful things we can make with apples.  Today I start with a foundation apple item that is easy to make and nearly everyone likes; homemade applesauce.  I then introduce you to a most-delicious Apple Cider Jelly recipe I found.  Lastly, I share with you an adult beverage of my own creation that I call the "Johnny Apple Kick".

It's apple harvest time.  Don't delay!

The best applesauce I've made has two elements --

  • No added sugar.
  • Uses Honeycrisp apples.

To learn more about Honey Crisp apples, originally from Minnesota, see this Wikipedia page

Tools & supplies I recommend to make canning your apples much easier (all are affiliate links)  --

Norpro Apple Master:

The Apple Master is perfect for quickly peeling & coring your apples - especially if you have a lot of them.  One of the best specialty pieces of equipment I have in my home canning tool kit!  This version has a suction cup.  They have a version with a clamp too if you prefer.

OXO "Good Grips" Apple Corer and Divider

It's a bit old-school, but this handy little tool efficient as can be if your plan is to include your apple peels in the mix and then run it all through a food mill before putting into your jars.  It's quick, clean, and inexpensive.

KitchenAid 3 Speed Immersion Blender  This is one of the very few speciality tools I have in my kitchen.  But I use it all the time and would feel a bit lost without mine!
